Boys basketball is coming off an extraordinary 27-2 campaign, its best in program history. Senior quad-captain, standout Skidmore College commit, and four-year starter at point guard, Chase Ta, will lead the attack. Ta, who averaged 10 points and 5 assists per game last year, won 1st Team All-Conference, 2nd Team All-County, and Courier News Most Improved Player of the Year honors. When I spoke with him, he seemed ecstatic for his final season of high school basketball. “I’m most excited to compete again and hopefully win a state championship, while representing our community. Because of our record last year, we’re going to have a target on our back, but I will look to make my teammates better throughout.” Fellow captains Darron Wallace, Alex Miller and Michael Remsen, along with senior Dominick Antosz, will play big roles. Juniors Mitch Chugunov and Matt Stagnitta, along with sophomore guard Matt Remsen, Michael’s younger brother, will add to the attack. The Cougars play their first home conference game on January 6, at 7 pm.
