It looks to be a safe bet that The Times’ area will have three No. 1 seeds in the upcoming NJSIAA boys’ basketball tournament that starts on March 3.

Though the official seedings meeting won’t be held until Friday due to the impending
snowstorm set to hit the area (the seeding meeting was initially scheduled for tomorrow), it looks as if Montgomery, Ewing and Trenton Catholic Academy have all earned the top seeds in their respective brackets.

If the final power points hold true, Montgomery (18-0) earned 428 power points, edging Trenton (17-1), winners of 14 straight, by one point in Group IV Central. Montgomery looks like it will host No. 16 Marlboro (9-8) while Trenton, which fell to East Brunswick in the sectional final last season, will host No. 15 Old Bridge.

No. 8 WW-P South looks to have drawn the No. 8 seed and will host No. 9 North Brunswick (13-5).

Ewing (17-3) secured the top seed in Group III Central and will host No. 16 Ocean Township. Defending sectional champion Lawrence (10-8) is the No. 8 seed and will travel to take on No. 9 Somerville (7-7).

No. 4 Hamilton (13-4) will host No. 13 Allentown (7-10), winners of seven of its last nine, in what looks to be the lone opening-round game involving two local teams.

No. 7 Nottingham (10-7) will host No. 10 Woodbridge (10-8), No. 12 Northern Burlington (8-11) will travel to take on

No. 5 Middletown North (11-5) and No. 14 Hightstown (5-10) will hit the road to try and upset No. 3 Neptune.

Trenton Catholic Academy (12-4), winners of eight straight after last night’s game against Westhampton Tech took home the top seed in Non-Public South B. It looks like the Iron Mikes will host No. 16 Ranney (6-9).

Notre Dame (15-6) appears to have drawn the No. 7 seed in Non-Public South A and look set to host No. 8 Gloucester Catholic (11-7).

Bordentown (5-10) drew the No. 15 seed in CJ Group II and will travel to take on perennial power and second-seed Lakewood (16-3).

The Times’ area will have three teams in CJ Group I with New Egypt (5-14) having the tallest task of trying to topple No. 1 Point Pleasant Beach (17-1) as the No. 16 seed. South Hunterdon (15-4) earned the No. 3 seed and will host No. 14 Keansburg (4-12) and
No. 4 Florence (13-6) will face No. 13 Piscataway Tech (5-9).
